    A lot of the requirements for Treasury will not be getting to the Board level, in my experience working with Multinational Corporates.

    A lot of the above is applicable at various Committees or other bodies that may be making those investment decisions.

    However, I would home in on one area that is mentioned here but appears to be in passing as there is a lot of focus on quantifiable measures. That area is influencing others who may play part in the decision.

    These could be important decision makers. These could also be other departments who you are ‘competing’ for funding or human resources with.

    I would therefore move the section “Leveraging Influencers and Allies” to be near the top, especially if we’re talking about larger transformational projects you may engage on and work with other to get implemented.

    Create a What’s In It For Them, especially if they need to compromise on something.
    Understand their priorities and areas where your project may benefit them.
    Engage them early, getting them on your side, so that when the question comes up “Is it worth it?” and “What can give to make it happen?” you not only know where they stand, but so that they can be a winning party in the outcome as well.
